Peer Review Department of Apparel Manufacturing Management & Technology

Shanto-Mariam University is one of the pioneer University in Bangladesh. Apparel Manufacturing Management & Technology is one of the promising Department of Shanto-Mariam University. This Department is continuously doing work for creating successful professionals for the Apparel Industry.

Recently a three-day long, (18th July to 20th July 2018) External Peer Review (EPR) program was held at Department of Apparel Manufacturing Management & Technology under Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) which was a quiver off EPR program among all entities at SMUCT. This program was conducted by The EPR team consisted of three experts from respective areas: International quality assurance (QA) expert, Nimalakith Samarakoon, Senior Lecturer, Department of economics and statistics, Sabaragamuwa University, Srilinka. Local QA expert, Dr.Md Ziaul Amin, Director, IQAC and Professor department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of Jessore University of Science & technology(JUST),Bangladesh, Subject specialist, Prof. Dr. Mahbubul Haque, Dept. of Textile Engineering,Daffodil University, Bangladesh.Associate Prof. Dr. Masud Al Noor, Head of the Department welcomed the EPR team with a power point Presentation.

During the Peer Review process, the reviewers have had a number of meetings with a number of stakeholders related to the Department of AMMT and Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology. The AMMT department has also arranged a visit for the reviewers to the Permanent Campus of SMUCT, Kolma, Savar. The team visited important physical facilities including computer laboratory (CAD), Sewing Lab, Pattern Lab, Color Lab, Sample Room, library, cafeteria, etc. Department of AMMT also arranged a Product (Apparel) Exhibition at Creative HUB, Uttara, Dhaka.

As part of the rigorous scrutiny about quality management system and continuous development of Honors and Masters Programs, the EPR team interviewed six stakeholders: students, alumni, parents, faculty members and management. In addition, the team discussed with Vice Chairman, Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Registrar, Joint Registrar, and Controller of exams, Career Guidance and Placement and HR director, and also Factory Oriented expert. During the program five organizations employer were come to the AMMT department and discussed with the peer reviewer team. The reviewers were impressed with the quality management and documentation system of the programs and Apparel Exhibition. Finally, the expert panel explained and submitted an exit summary report to IQA Director, and suggested some areas for long-term improvement. The Self-Assessment committee extended its full cooperation in conducting the EPR program in a congenial atmosphere.
