The IQAC of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology (SMUCT) organized a seminar for the faculty members on “Ethics & Moralities of University Teachers”. The seminar was held on 10 May, 2023 and started at 11:30 am in the auditorium of the University. Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Sahi Alam , distinguished academician and Member, Bangladesh Accreditation Council was present as Resource Person. He pointed out six principles of teacher’s code of ethics and practice: maintain trust in the profession; maintain professional relation with the students; respect the uniqueness and diversity of students; work in collaborative manner with colleagues; act with honesty and integrity and keep professional knowledge and practice up to date. He revealed nine principles of ethical university teaching: content competence; pedagogical competence; dealing with sensitive topics; duel relationships with the students; confidentiality; respect for colleagues; students’ development; valid assessment of the students and respect for institution. Prof. Dr. Yasmin Ahmed, Director, IQAC gave the welcome speech of the programme. Mr. Mohammad Kamaluddin, Additional director (In-charge), IQAC, conducted the program by greeting everyone. Ms. Sanjana Shahnaj, Assistant Professor, Department of English read out the biography of the Key-note speaker. Prof. Mostafizul Haque, Hon,ble Chairman, BoT, Prof. Dr. Md. Shah-E-Alam, Honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Par Mosiur Rahman, Registrar, delivered welcome address in the said seminar. Prof. Dr. M. Abdul Halim Shaikh, Dean Faculty of MGS, Ar. Hosne Ara Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Design Technology and Prof. Dr. Pradip Kumar Nandi, Dean (In-Charge), Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts and 70 Faculty Members of all the Departments were also present in the seminar. The seminar ended with a question and answer session at 2:00 pm.
